Hi, rather than say SCLA is not kid-friendly, which is not true as far as squash is concerned, it's better to say that we do not have a junior program because of the location of the club and the demographics of our squash members. We offer five-star service and programs to a downtown professional clientele of 300 squash members. The club is not located in a residential area as are most clubs with lots of juniors. Otherwise we would have a juniors program. Thanks!

The USSRA now has gone into the tournament business. Except that their tournaments are now mandatory. Two for the top 16 players an 1 for anyone hoping tyo get there.

Squash was already an expensive sport but now add on a weekend trip to Boston, Philadelphia, or San Francisco in order to play in the Nationals or get a year end ranking. It is too much!

I am not letting my daughter play in the Golds this year because I think that adding the expense of a JCT Tournamnet as a requirement is too much in these times.

It is my understanding that this came about in order to ensure that the top kids were playing each other and not avoiding tougher competition. But in order to fix that problem for a small number of kids, the USSRA has penalized many of us who do not avoid competition - my daughter has 12 exposures this year- but would like to choose where and when we can afford a weekend away.

Three or four exposures is a good rule for a year-end ranking...but the USSRA should not be in competion with local tournaments, clubs and coaches.

We will see the Gold Nationals from the bleachers this year.

Meadow Mill Athletic Club has a great deal for post squash season play for kids that have been on a school team and want to keep playing.

$99 to play March, April, and May!!!

students can use the facility anytime except 5-8pm Mon-Fri. So after school and weekends are great! Certainly you get your money's worth and keep in the game.

you can drop in or call 410-235-7000.

Great Idea Meadow Mill!

Lefika-

How fabulous to have Mark Chalanore in Baltimore !

He is absolutely terrific with kids. I met him when he was coaching at T Position and the kids just love him. He is pafrticularly known for his Power game so I would think that strong girl players and boys would get the most out of his coaching.

He will be here in Baltimore the week that you are in Italy, which also sounds like a great trip for kids. Tell us more when you can about that.

The other camps throughout the summer are $295 for a half day, $495 for a full day with lunch and $695 for the week with Mark.

I have to say, it sounds like quite a good deal for squash kids!

T-Position is the BEST!! It is a camp started by Natalie Grainger and they get the best coaches. Last year they had world number 1 Sarah Fitz Gerald and Mark Chaloner. It is at Mercersburg Academy and they have to have the nicest courts anywhere. My son loved it and would recommend it highly..
